Europa League: Rio Ferdinand blasts Manchester United over defeat

Manchester united legend Rio Ferdinand blasted Manchester United following their exit from the Europa League to Sevilla on Thursday.

DAILY GIST HUB gathered that Manchester United failed to progress to the semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday, crashing out to the Spanish side after disappointing displays from Erik ten Hag’s side both at Manchester and in Sevilla.

After giving away their two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Old Trafford, the Red Devils travelled to Spain, where they were beaten 3-0 by the former Europa League title holders.

Reflecting on that loss, Ferdinand told BT Sport: “Poor. We [Manchester United] weren’t at the races. You can’t dress it up any way different from that.

They started that game the way they finished the last game. 2-0 up at Old Trafford, and throwing that away [in the first leg] was disastrous

“The whole team was not at the races. I don’t think you can blame just the centre-halves as the problem. The whole team was shaky, there was a lack of fight and belief.”
