Cross River State government is planning to buy refuse dumps from residents of the state , most especially those living in the urban areas.
The General manager of the State Waste Management Agency, Sunny Uko disclosed this at an event organised by Nigerian Society of Engineers in Calabar.
In the last four months, waste disposal has posed a huge challenge to the state government, with mountains of refuse blocking major roads.
At that event, Uko said the plan is to be buying the wastes from residents who often do not pay evacuation fees.
“We have a plan to buy waste from residents of the State.
“We will go from house to house to evaluate and buy them,” he stated.
